Sustainable Finance Kicks-Off in Portugal

Nova SBE, the top-ranked business school in Portugal, has started the first Master-level Sustainable Finance course in the country with support from the Granito Group.

To consolidate its position as a top-ranked European business school, Nova School of Business and Economics (Nova SBE), located in Portugal, has started to offer an optional Master-level course in Sustainable Finance, the first in the country. The course provides an overview of the global sustainable finance market and its different variations, and explores how financial players (institutional investors, asset managers, wealth managers, corporations) can manage capital and generate value through Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) lenses. It has a strong executive and pragmatic component.

To teach the course Nova SBE has selected Rodrigo Tavares, Granito Group founder and president. “For me it is an immense pleasure to teach in my native country a discipline so much at the core of everything the Granito Group does. For sustainable finance to scale up we need to invest in the training of finance executives and in the education of finance and economics students.”

Nova SBE is a leading university in the areas of Economics, Finance, and Management with its Bachelor, Masters, Ph.D., MBA, and Executive Education programs. It is among Europe’s best 25 schools with more than 3,000 students from more than 70 different countries. All classes are taught in English.

The new state-of-the-art 90,000m2 Carcavelos Campus is often regarded as the best business school campus in Europe.

Rodrigo Tavares wrote a piece on the new Sustainable Finance course available here (in Portuguese). It was published in the Portuguese business paper, Eco.
